This is to notify and inform the general public that the SHORT-TERM WORK PERMIT (E-Work Permit) is now being initiated by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Employment. The employers wishing to import foreign workers even for the duration less than 30 days should now compulsorily apply online through BLMIS with immediate effect. Besides the normal required documents, the individual/FWRA/employers should submit the medical clearance certificate of the foreigners obtained from the country of origin.This notification is referred to the approval of the night halt work permits only and for other categories and updates, MoICE will keep notifying in future.

Special Labour Inspection in Construction Sites within Thimphu
The Department of Labour, in its commitment to ensuring fair and balanced employment opportunities for the local skilled workers and foreigners, wishes to inform all employers that the special inspections in private home constructions have been initiated from 12th September, 2023. The primary focus of the inspection will be to explore the opportunity for engaging local plumbers and electricians.

We request all house builders/employers within Thimphu to cooperate fully with the inspection team. This cooperation includes providing access to the workplace, relevant documentation, and facilitating interviews with the owners, contractors and foreign workers . Your cooperation and assistance are crucial to ensure a thorough and efficient inspection process.
