This is to notify and inform the general public that the SHORT-TERM WORK PERMIT (E-Work Permit) is now being initiated by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Employment. The employers wishing to import foreign workers even for the duration less than 30 days should now compulsorily apply online through BLMIS with immediate effect. Besides the normal required documents, the individual/FWRA/employers should submit the medical clearance certificate of the foreigners obtained from the country of origin.This notification is referred to the approval of the night halt work permits only and for other categories and updates, MoICE will keep notifying in future.

The Bhutan Trade and Investment Fair 2023 was organized jointly by the Department of Trade, MoICE in collaboration with the Department of Agricultural Marketing and Cooperatives and the Royal Bhutanese Embassy, Dhaka.

The main objective was to expand trade and commerce by linking the investors, producers, traders, and consumers of the two countries and sensitize on PTA which provides market access to 34 products from Bhutan.

Dhaka was chosen for the fair as it is the center of about 90 diplomatic missions, several trade bodies from across the globe, and other agencies to promote our local products and establish long-term business linkages and invite potential investors.

Bhutan Trade and Investment Fair 2023 focused on “Made Bhutan & Grown in Bhutan” products under the theme “Bridging the gap between Investors, Producers, Traders, and Consumers” and the fair began on 23rd June 2023 and ended on 25th June 2023.

On the sidelines of the Trade fair, seminars, and B2B sessions on investment opportunities were also organized for all interested business individuals, including tourism services.

About 25 entrepreneurs including exporters participated in the trade fair, mostly from the CSI sector. Cardamom, shilajit, juices, spring water, quinoa, areca nuts, mushroom, herbal tea, particle board, and other agro products were displayed and promoted.

The fair was supported by DoT/MoICE under the Brand Bhutan project executed under Enhanced Integrated Framework and FAO, Bhutan.
