This is to notify and inform the general public that the SHORT-TERM WORK PERMIT (E-Work Permit) is now being initiated by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Employment. The employers wishing to import foreign workers even for the duration less than 30 days should now compulsorily apply online through BLMIS with immediate effect. Besides the normal required documents, the individual/FWRA/employers should submit the medical clearance certificate of the foreigners obtained from the country of origin.This notification is referred to the approval of the night halt work permits only and for other categories and updates, MoICE will keep notifying in future.

Startup Bhutan Hackathon Challenge 2023

“Igniting Innovation and Empowering Startup Ecosystems through Digital Transformation”.

The highly anticipated Startup Bhutan Hackathon Challenge 2023 concludes at Startup Centre, Changzamtog, Thimphu. This flagship event, held under the Startup & CSI initiative, aims to provide a platform for fresh ideas and foster creative and innovative solutions to the challenges faced by citizens, delivered through groundbreaking tech products. The event was graced by the Hon’ble Secretary of the Ministry of Industry Commerce and Employment along with the Director General of the Department of Employment and Entrepreneurship and attended by mentors, judges, and the employees of the department apart from organizers and participants.

The Honorable Secretary highlighted the importance of digital job creation, the future of work, the creative industry, and the overall vision of the country which includes, people, progress, and prosperity.

The Startup Hackathon Challenge 2023 is themed “Empowering Startup Ecosystems through Digital Transformation” with eight registered teams from diverse backgrounds including, freelancers, college students, and private firms. Hackathon is a two- and half-day event scheduled from16th-18th of June 2023 with the primary objectives to:

  • Encourage self-employment among IT unemployed youths
  • Promote the use of technology for innovation
  • Enhance creativity and innovation in the IT sector
  • Create a platform for digital job creation as a precursor to the 13th Plan

With the unwavering assistance of knowledgeable mentors, and impartial evaluation of the judges, the participants dedicated themselves to the event tirelessly, working day and night to present their creations. This year the winner is awarded Nu-400,000/- and the first runners up with Nu-100,000/-.

The winner of the Startup Hackathon Challenge 2023 is Team Domain.

 

“Team Domain” is a team of highly enthusiastic individuals who have stepped away from their regular jobs to experience the exhilaration of competition. They thrive on the thrill of pushing boundaries and venturing beyond their comfort zone.

The runners-up were bagged by Team Tech No-Mind. Tech No-Mind is from Gyelpozhing College of Information Technology(GCIT), a dynamic quartet of computer science enthusiasts specializing in AI development, full-stack development, and UI design.

The winner of the Startup Hackathon Challenge 2023 will undergo sandboxing for six months to fulfill the requirement to develop an inclusive one-stop website for the entrepreneur ecosystem for startup centers and an interactive dashboard for aspiring.

The event is organized by Entrepreneurship Promotion Division(EPD) under the Department of Employment and Entrepreneurship, Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Employment, and funded through Startup/CSI Flagship Program.
