The Department of Labour would like to inform employers and Foreign Workers’ Recruitment Agents (FWRAs) that it has observed a concerning trend where foreign workers are permitted to exit the Port of Exit (POE) after completing immigration formalities or receiving their cards, only to return the following day or so. The Department reminds employers and FWRAs to ensure the foreign workers are transported directly from the Workforce Management Centers (WMCs) to their workplaces (once their Work Permit card has been printed) and facilitate budget hotels in case rooms are not available at WMCs rather than allowing foreign workers to cross and stay outside the border.
Failure to comply with this notice may result in legal action taken in accordance with the relevant regulations and Act.
