This is to notify and inform the general public that the SHORT-TERM WORK PERMIT (E-Work Permit) is now being initiated by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Employment. The employers wishing to import foreign workers even for the duration less than 30 days should now compulsorily apply online through BLMIS with immediate effect. Besides the normal required documents, the individual/FWRA/employers should submit the medical clearance certificate of the foreigners obtained from the country of origin.This notification is referred to the approval of the night halt work permits only and for other categories and updates, MoICE will keep notifying in future.

Notification on non-operational of labourNet system during 1st-5th June, 2022

This is to notify the general public that the LabourNet has been revamped and renamed as Foreign Workers Management System (FWMS). The system is designed to integrate various services related to Foreign Workers (FWs) and streamline the work permit approval process. The new system will be operated with effect from 6 June, 2022 by 9:00 AM and the old LaboutNet System will be disabled with effect from 31 May, 2022 by 5.00 PM.

Therefore, the employers seeking for foreign workers will not be able to apply between 1-5 June, 2022 during which both the Department of Labour (DoL) and the Department of Immigration (DoI) will be clearing the backlog applications. The renewal applications which are due between 1-5 June, 2022 must apply before 31 May, 2022 and failing to do so will be charged an overstay fine as per the DoI rules.
