This is to notify and inform the general public that the SHORT-TERM WORK PERMIT (E-Work Permit) is now being initiated by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Employment. The employers wishing to import foreign workers even for the duration less than 30 days should now compulsorily apply online through BLMIS with immediate effect. Besides the normal required documents, the individual/FWRA/employers should submit the medical clearance certificate of the foreigners obtained from the country of origin.This notification is referred to the approval of the night halt work permits only and for other categories and updates, MoICE will keep notifying in future.

1. What is SDP?
Ans: The Skills Development Plan (SDP) is prepared as per the Royal Command received from His  Majesty the King on 31st May 2021 to mitigate the socio-economic impact caused by the  pandemic and to ensure inclusive and sustainable recovery through effective intervention in  skills training and development.

2. Who is eligible to participate in the Skills Development Plan?

Ans: Registered job seekers, Laid off employees due to the COVID-19 pandemic and overseas returnee with registered jobseekers.

3. How can I apply for SDP?

It lists only courses that are currently open.

4. What are the documents and information required during the registration?

Ans: The requirements are a copy of Citizenship Identity Card, registered job seeker ID number and qualification.

5. Do I have to arrange my own accommodation during the training?

Ans: Yes, if the institute does not have the hostel facility. Those institutes with hostel facilities will provide the accommodation.

6. What are the courses offered and how long?

Ans: There are 108 courses in 9 different sectors and the duration is from 1 to 7 months.You can check the details at HERE…

7. Are there other training opportunities besides 29 courses identified by the Ministry?

Ans: The post training support will be provided to ensure employment/engagement and entrepreneurship activities.

8. What is the monthly stipend and other incentives during the training? 

Ans: The monthly stipend is Nu.3500 (Nu. Three thousand five hundred) only.

9. Can I apply and participate in more than one course?

Ans: Jobseekers cannot take part in multiple courses under the SDP. However, they can go for upskilling  if they want to upgrade their skills acquired through SDP.
