Press release: Capacity-Building Workshop for NTFC Members on Trade Facilitation Reform

The Department of Trade, Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Employment (MoICE), in collaboration with the International Trade Centre (ITC), conducted a one-day capacity-building workshop for members of NTFC on 30 September 2026 at Hotel Thimphu Deluxe. The workshop was held under the theme “Empowering Bhutan’s NTFC: Tools and Approaches for Trade Facilitation Reform”.

The program was opened by the Officiating Secretary, MoICE, and brought together representatives from National Trade Facilitation Committee (NTFC) member agencies and other relevant government and private agencies. The programme was designed to strengthen members’ understanding of trade facilitation reforms and provide them with practical tools and approaches that can be applied in the work of the NTFC.

The sessions provided participants with an overview of the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA), focusing on the role of the NTFC in coordinating and implementing trade facilitation reforms. The workshop covered practical approaches to procedural simplification, process mapping, risk management, coordinated border controls, and monitoring of reform actions. Through discussions and practical exercises, participants identified key bottlenecks, priority areas for strengthening NTFC coordination, and possible follow-up actions and next steps.
