Public Notification from Department of Trade

The Department has observed long queues and rising petrol demand at certain Fuel Retail Outlets (FROs) in Thimphu, causing public concern over fuel availability.

The Department clarifies that there is no fuel shortage in the country. Supply from source is uninterrupted, and overall stocks are adequate. The queues reflect a temporary demand surge and localized operational constraints at specific outlets, not a supply disruption, and any stock gaps are being promptly replenished.

The public is urged not to panic-buy. Sufficient fuel is available across all operational FROs, with uniform quality and pricing regardless of dealer. Prices are revised only fortnightly under the established mechanism, and no immediate increase is anticipated.

The Department/Regional Office will continue monitoring the situation to ensure stable, uninterrupted fuel supply.
