The Corporate Regulatory Authority (CRA) successfully conducted the Company Secretary Training and Certification Programme from 1 to 5 June 2026 at Metta Resort, Paro. The programme was attended by 20 professionals from the accounting and legal sectors.
The programme covered company law fundamentals, corporate structures, corporate governance, Corporate Social Responsibility, company incorporation and registration processes, change transactions and their regulatory requirements, the roles and responsibilities of Boards of Directors, Board and General Meeting procedures, corporate resolutions, statutory filing and compliance obligations, and Bhutan’s capital market framework. The programme culminated in a comprehensive assessment of all participants.
“The Company Secretary is one of the most important but often overlooked pillars of good corporate governance. A well-trained Company Secretary ensures that a company operates within the law, that its boards function effectively, and that its compliance obligations are met consistently. This programme is our investment in that foundation” – CRA Motto
Participants expressed their commitment to upholding high standards of corporate governance and providing effective secretarial support to companies in meeting their legal and regulatory obligations.
The CRA remains committed to developing a competent and professional pool of Company Secretaries whose work underpins the integrity, accountability, and long-term sustainability of Bhutan’s corporate sector.
The Corporate Regulatory Authority (CRA) firmly believes and the participants unanimously affirm that this Program marks a historic milestone for the CRA, the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Employment (MoICE), and Bhutan’s corporate sector as a whole. For the first time in the Country’s history, this initiative has laid the foundation for the establishment of a Corporate Professional Services Industry, creating a new ecosystem of qualified corporate professionals dedicated to strengthening corporate governance, regulatory compliance, investor confidence, and sustainable business growth.
