Hon’ble Lyonpo received Her Excellency Malika Parveen, Ambassador of Bangladesh to Bhutan, on a courtesy call this morning.
Lyonpo extended congratulations to the Ambassador on her recent assumption of office and conveyed best wishes for a successful and productive tenure in Bhutan.

Discussions focused on enhancing economic cooperation, particularly in the areas of trade and connectivity. Both sides acknowledged the positive impact of the existing Preferential Trade Agreement and explored opportunities to further strengthen trade relations, including Bhutan’s interest in advancing towards a Free Trade Agreement.

The meeting also highlighted the importance of strengthening collaboration in standards and product certification. In this regard, both sides discussed ways to operationalize the existing MoU between the Bhutan Standards Bureau and the Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution to facilitate product certification and mutual recognition.
Tourism and people-to-people linkages were also discussed as key areas of cooperation to promote greater cultural exchange and travel between the two countries.
