The Regional Office of Industry, Commerce and Employment (ROICE), in Gelephu successfully conducted a 15-day Basic Entrepreneurship Course (BEC) from 23 March to 6 April 2026 at the Kuendrup Institute of Innovation & Technology (KIIT), Gelephu.
The training programme was organized in collaboration with the Department of Employment and Entrepreneurship, MoICE. A total of 43 participants (19 female and 24 male) comprising job seekers, unemployed youth, and aspiring entrepreneurs took part in the course.
The BEC aimed to equip participants with essential entrepreneurial competencies, including business ideation, market analysis, financial planning, and business plan development. The training also focused on fostering entrepreneurial mindsets and promoting self-employment as a viable and sustainable career path.

A significant highlight of the programme was the business plan pitching session, where participants presented their business ideas to a panel of experts from relevant agencies. The session provided valuable feedback on the feasibility and scalability of proposed ventures, enhancing participants’ readiness for real-world entrepreneurship.
To complement classroom learning, participants were also taken on industrial visits to local enterprises, including the Aa-Pow Cooperative Ice Cream Plant and Aum Sangay Shilaje Manufacturing Outlet in Gelephu. These visits offered practical insights into business operations, marketing, and customer engagement while inspiring participants through real entrepreneurial journeys.
The programme also featured a guest lecture by Mr. Tashi Chojur, CEO of EDULINK Education Consultancy and Training Services, who shared insights on goal setting, entrepreneurial opportunities, and the importance of innovation and self-reliance.
The training concluded with a closing ceremony held on 6 April 2026, where certificates were awarded to all participants. Outstanding business ideas were also recognized, with “Smart EV Services” and “Pure Nature Rebalance” receiving top honors for their innovation and potential impact.

Speaking at the event, officials from ROICE and KIIT emphasized the importance of entrepreneurship in driving economic growth and employment generation, particularly in emerging economic hubs like Gelephu. Participants were encouraged to apply their newly acquired knowledge and skills to establish viable business ventures and contribute to national development.
