Press Release on Pathways to Success: A Career Exploration Board Game

DoEE, MoICE Launches Interactive Career Guidance Games for Bhutanese Students

Coinciding with the auspicious occasion of Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen’s birth anniversary, the Department of Employment and Entrepreneurship, Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Employment (MoICE) launched two interactive board games aimed at helping students explore career pathways and build future-ready skills. The launch was graced by the Hon’ble Lyonpo Yeezang De Thapa, Minister for Ministry of Education and Skills Development, as Chief Guest, and attended by the Hon’ble Lyonpo Namgyel Dorji, Minister for Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Employment, reflecting strong cross-sector support for youth empowerment.

Mr Sherab Zangpo, Chief of the Labour Market Information and Career Guidance Division (LMICGD), DoEE, MoICE, said the games were developed to make career guidance more interactive and practical for students.

There are two games: Career Exploration & Personality Matching and Future Skills Quest.

Career Exploration & Personality Matching helps students discover how personality traits align with different professions. By collecting personality and skill cards, players learn how their personal qualities and continuous upskilling can open doors to diverse career options.

Future Skills Quest is a dynamic board game that mirrors the unpredictability of the future job market. Players face challenges, earn and trade tokens, and make strategic choices, building adaptability, foresight, and an understanding of evolving work trends.

The games were developed by Nyingnor, a strategic communications firm known for creating educational and impact-driven content. In close collaboration with LMICGD, Nyingnor led the design, testing, and refinement of the games through multiple school-based pilots. The result is a set of culturally relevant, engaging tools that will be rolled out to over 180 schools across Bhutan, along with teacher guides for smooth classroom facilitation.

“This initiative is a reflection of our Ministry’s mandate, which is to equip Bhutanese youth with the necessary skills and also career awareness to meet the needs of an evolving labour market,” said Ms Kunzang Lhamu, Director General, Department of Employment and Entrepreneurship, MoICE. “By fostering early exposure to diverse career options, we hope to create a generation that is better informed, better prepared, and empowered.”

“The Career Exploration Board Game is more than just a game; it is a gateway to understanding oneself, exploring the world of work, and making informed decisions about the future,” added Hon’ble Lyonpo Yeezang De Thapa, Minister for Ministry of Education and Skills Development.

These games will offer a meaningful new approach to career education, one that supports students in discovering paths that match their strengths, interests, and the realities of tomorrow’s job market
