Student Business Seedling Program (SBSP) Featuring Little CEO’s Launched in Mongar

The much-anticipated Student Business Seedling Program (SBSP), featuring the vibrant Little CEO initiative, officially launched today at Mongar Higher Secondary School, marking a significant milestone in fostering entrepreneurial spirit among Bhutanese youth and promoting balanced regional development.

The opening ceremony was graced by Hon’ble Dasho Dzongrab, with distinguished attendees including the Superintendent of Police, the Regional Director from ROICE, the Principal, senior officials from the Dzongkhags, and 24 enthusiastic participants from Mongar and Trashigang.

An Entrepreneurial Journey Begins!

Targeting students from classes IX to XII, this two-week program is designed to:

  • Master the fundamentals of entrepreneurship.
  • Develop practical skills to launch business ventures.
  • Tackle real-world challenges with innovative solutions.
  • Learn the basics of creating business plans.
  • Pitch innovative ideas to a panel of judges.

The program aims to ignite creativity, build leadership skills, and inspire participants to become changemakers within their communities. Beyond the classroom, these budding entrepreneurs will serve as ambassadors of innovation, sharing their learnings and spearheading impactful initiatives in their schools and beyond.

In his inspiring keynote address, the Chief Guest emphasized the importance of entrepreneurship, stating:
“During our time, we studied up to class X, XII, or a degree, solely to secure a job. Today’s youth must leverage their education to learn, experiment, innovate, and solve problems. Lead by example and seize this opportunity to apply entrepreneurship skills beyond the classroom.”

This program, funded under the Economic Stimulus Programme (ESP), is a collaborative effort between the Department of Employment and Entrepreneurship (DoEE) and the Financial Institutions Training Institute (FITI). It aims to equip Bhutanese youth with the skills and mindset needed to thrive in a dynamic global landscape.

The program which started today will end on 29th January.
