Apply Foreign Worker

This is to notify and inform the general public that the SHORT-TERM WORK PERMIT (E-Work Permit) is now being initiated by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Employment. The employers wishing to import foreign workers even for the duration less than 30 days should now compulsorily apply online through BLMIS with immediate effect. Besides the normal required documents, the individual/FWRA/employers should submit the medical clearance certificate of the foreigners obtained from the country of origin.This notification is referred to the approval of the night halt work permits only and for other categories and updates, MoICE will keep notifying in future.

Handing-taking of Labour Market Information and Research Division (LMIRD)

The Department of Workforce Planning and Skills Development (DoWPSD), Ministry of Education and Skills Development (MoESD) officially handed over the mandates of erstwhile Labour Market Information and Research Division (LMIRD) to the Department of Employment and Entrepreneurship (DoEE), Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Employment (MoICE) on 28th February, 2023.

The handing-taking is done as per the restructuring of the agencies. The Director General, DoEE in her statement during the handing-taking ceremony thanked the DoWPSD for their efforts till date in managing the operations of the Division. DG expressed her aspirations with the Division to improve the Labour Market Information ecosystem and reiterated the importance of continued assistance and support from DoWPSD and other relevant agencies.
