The Basic Entrepreneurship Course (BEC) on New Business Creation (NBC) for Domestic Human Resource Service Group and Unemployed Youth was conducted from 17th to 31st January, 2023 by the Department of Employment and Entrepreneurship (DoEE), Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Employment (MoICE) at Start-Up center, Thimphu.
There were 19 contestants in total, including 8 men and 11 women. Participants include a diverse collection of young people without jobs, housewives, and single mothers.
During 2 weeks program, participants were taught how to generate sustainable business ideas, match projects with people, develop a basic business plan that includes a marketing plan, financial plan and organizational plan. During the final day, all the participants were given an opportunity to pitch their business ideas in front of a panel of judges.
The closing ceremony was graced by Officiating Director General, of the Department of Employment and Entrepreneurship (DoEE), the panel of Judges (Lhakpa from Loden Foundation, Yeshey Samdrup from iHUB, Rohit from One Click Shop, Tashi Tenzin from EPD, MoICE), along with the two facilitators.
The following top 4 business ideas were given a cash prize of Nu.50,000 each during the closing ceremony out of a total of 6 business ideas.
