This is to notify and inform the general public that the SHORT-TERM WORK PERMIT (E-Work Permit) is now being initiated by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Employment. The employers wishing to import foreign workers even for the duration less than 30 days should now compulsorily apply online through BLMIS with immediate effect. Besides the normal required documents, the individual/FWRA/employers should submit the medical clearance certificate of the foreigners obtained from the country of origin.This notification is referred to the approval of the night halt work permits only and for other categories and updates, MoICE will keep notifying in future.

Bhutan New Venture Challenge 2023

The Department of Employment and Entrepreneurship invites aspiring entrepreneurs and students to participate in Bhutan New Venture Challenge, 2023. Bhutan New Venture Challenge is a business idea competition like program designed to help aspiring entrepreneurs materialize their business ideas into reality and help students experience entrepreneurship.

Bhutan New Venture Challenge 2023 has two categories:

  1. STUDENT CATEGORY

The student category is for students to showcase business ideas that can be operated within their institute. Students from Higher Secondary Schools, Middle Secondary Schools, TVET Institutes and colleges are encouraged to apply.

The theme for the student category is “Sustainable Ventures for a Sustainable Tomorrow”.

a. Eligibility

The eligibility criterion for the student category are as follows:

  1. Must be a business idea that is to be established and operated immediately
  2. Must be a student or a group of students representing the institute or studying in the school at the time of application
  3. Cannot be students who have won BNVC 2020 and 2022 edition

b. Cash Prize

Bhutan New Venture Challenge 2023 has set Nu. 100,000 for the Top 3 business ideas for the student category.

  1. GENERAL CATEGORY

The general category is an open category for aspiring entrepreneurs to showcase their innovative venture ideas that will be pursued for establishment. This year, BNVC is adopting the theme:

“Ventures Promoting Self-Sufficiency”

 Therefore, aspiring entrepreneurs are encouraged to align their venture ideas with the above theme.

a. Eligibility

The eligibility criterion for the general category are as follows:

  1. Must be a citizen of Bhutan
  2. Should not be an expansion business idea (A business idea to build on an already operational business)
  3. Should have the willingness to establish a business entity
  4. Should not be the winners of BNVC 2020 and 2022 edition
  5. Should not be an employed individual.

Bhutan New Venture Challenge 2022 has set the following cash prizes for the general category:
