This is to notify and inform the general public that the SHORT-TERM WORK PERMIT (E-Work Permit) is now being initiated by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Employment. The employers wishing to import foreign workers even for the duration less than 30 days should now compulsorily apply online through BLMIS with immediate effect. Besides the normal required documents, the individual/FWRA/employers should submit the medical clearance certificate of the foreigners obtained from the country of origin.This notification is referred to the approval of the night halt work permits only and for other categories and updates, MoICE will keep notifying in future.

Hor Weaving Program in Rinchengang, Wangdue Phodrang

As part of the Weaving into the Future Program (WFP) funded by the William Geiger Family Foundation Inc., (WGFF), the Royal Textile Academy of Bhutan (RTAB) in collaboration with the Department of Technical Education (DTE) under Ministry of Labor and Human Resources (MoLHR) is conducting a weaving program on ‘Hor’ as part of the SDP (Skills Development Program). The three-month program that started on November 18, 2022 in Rinchengang village, Wangdue Phodrang with 15 participants will officially end on February 17, 2023.

The training will include starching of yarns, rolling into balls, preparing warp, and adding finishing details to the pieces so that the finished product is of standard quality. Upon completing the course, the trainees will be equipped with the set of skills required in weaving Hor patterns starting from three crosshatches until nine crosshatches. 

The main objective of providing such training is to help improve the quality of life in the rural community by providing skills to generate income while also promoting and preserving our traditional art of weaving.
