Apply Foreign Worker

This is to notify and inform the general public that the SHORT-TERM WORK PERMIT (E-Work Permit) is now being initiated by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Employment. The employers wishing to import foreign workers even for the duration less than 30 days should now compulsorily apply online through BLMIS with immediate effect. Besides the normal required documents, the individual/FWRA/employers should submit the medical clearance certificate of the foreigners obtained from the country of origin.This notification is referred to the approval of the night halt work permits only and for other categories and updates, MoICE will keep notifying in future.

Consecration & inauguration of workshop & hostels at TTI Samthang

The Department of Technical Education, Ministry of Labour and Human Resources inaugurated the new automobile workshop and three student hostels at Technical Training Institute, Samthang, Wangduephodrang on 11th August 2022. The inaugural ceremony graced by Hon’ble Minister, MOLHR was attended by senior officials from the Ministry, Dzongkhag Administration and the Asian Development Bank’s Bhutan Resident Mission. 

The new infrastructure facilities are in line with the Place transformation under the TVET reform plan and is expected to provide an enhanced facelift to the image of technical and vocational education and training (TVET). Besides, the challenges faced by the institute in terms of low student intake due to limited student boarding facilities is expected to be resolved with the three new student hostels which can accommodate 324 students. The new automobile workshop also houses the general administration, laboratories and classrooms besides the spacious workshop area for automobile practical classes. 

Constructed at the cost of Nu. 130 million, the construction of the workshop facility and hostels was funded by the Royal Government of Bhutan and Asian Development Bank through the Skills Training and Education Pathways Upgradation Project (STEPUP) executed by the Ministry of Labour and Human Resources. The construction work was carried out by Druk Chapchab Construction & Gyalcon Infra Ltd.
