A month and 10 days long training in Vegetable and Poultry Production began at Rural Development Training Centre (RDTC), Zhemgang on 07 July 2022. The training is being conducted by Rural Development Training Centre under Skills Development Program of Ministry of Labour and Human Resources. A total of 46 youths and laid-off employees (36 in Vegetable Production, 10 in Poultry Production) are taking part in the training.
The training aims to provide participants to understand the plant structures, major plant tissue system, transpiration, respiration, and photosynthesis in plants. They will learn to carry out soil analyse and soil fertility management practices including preparation of organic manures and nursery raising for vegetable seedling production and nursery management practices. The participants will carry out field preparation, transplantation, and mulching of vegetable bed, assess plant water need and schedule irrigation based on crop soil and water requirement. They will also learn how to carry out intercultural operations including weeding, hoeing, watering, fertilization, crop management operations including pruning, raining, thinning, staking, identify common pests and diseases of vegetables, vegetable maturity and carryout harvesting.
The participants for the Poultry production will learn how to plan and implement Poultry Farm Business, perform Breed selection and Construct poultry shed, feeding practices and poultry diseases prevention and control measures and also to perform Good Management Practices (GMP) and post-harvest management.
