The Department of Employment and Entrepreneurship in its pursuit to provide opportunities to former Drayang employees to develop skills and knowledge necessary for a sustainable livelihood has offered Entrepreneurship Courses. The entrepreneurship course is meant to change the conventional thinking of employment under an organization to self-employment through formation of enterprises and build entrepreneurial competencies necessary for a successful entrepreneurial journey.

A total of 41 women formerly employed under Drayangs successfully completed the 15-days Basic Entrepreneurship Course at the training hall of College of Science and Technology, Phuentsholing. The course had been custom tailored to adapt to the diverse educational background of the participants.The participants through the course generated ideas that matched their interest or skill set keeping in mind the market needs. The participants in order to complete the course had to pitch their business ideas in a competitive format to determine the “Top Four Business Ideas”. Top four business ideas were awarded Nu.50, 000 to provide stimulus to pursue their entrepreneurial aspirations. The Top Four business ideas were:
1. Production of Yeast
2. Production of Local Sweets
3. Laundry Services
4. Jack-fruit Chips
The participants having completed the course are eager to venture onto the entrepreneurial path but are skeptical on their ability to meet the financial obligations in forming an enterprise. The participants have expressed that they are hopeful to receive support in the form of a soft loan or a collateral free loan to be able to materialize their ideas into reality.
The closing ceremony was graced by the President of College of Science and Technology.
