This is to notify and inform the general public that the SHORT-TERM WORK PERMIT (E-Work Permit) is now being initiated by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Employment. The employers wishing to import foreign workers even for the duration less than 30 days should now compulsorily apply online through BLMIS with immediate effect. Besides the normal required documents, the individual/FWRA/employers should submit the medical clearance certificate of the foreigners obtained from the country of origin.This notification is referred to the approval of the night halt work permits only and for other categories and updates, MoICE will keep notifying in future.

Bhutan Hackathon Challenge 2022: Encouraging adoption of local digital tools for 21st century

The Department of Employment and Entrepreneurship, Ministry of Labour and Human Resources conducted Hackathon Challenge 2022 on 9th June, 2022 at Workspace Thimphu. With the objective of:

  • Encourage self-employment for IT unemployed youths
  • Encourage use of technology
  • Enhance creativity and innovation in the field of IT

There were 18 teams with an average of 4 team members per team who participated in the 4 broad themes such as Education, Tourism, Health and Construction. The themes were broadly defined and it was up to the teams to identify the current gaps in these industries and come up with ideas.

Out of 18 ideas pitched during the final Demo Day, the top 3 winners were awarded a cash prize of Nu.200,000 each and Nu.150,000 for 3 Runners Up each. In total 6 teams were awarded cash prizes.

The final Demo Day event along with award ceremony was graced by His Excellency Lyonpo Karma Dorji, Honorable Minister for Ministry of Labour and Human Resources.
