This is to notify and inform the general public that the SHORT-TERM WORK PERMIT (E-Work Permit) is now being initiated by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Employment. The employers wishing to import foreign workers even for the duration less than 30 days should now compulsorily apply online through BLMIS with immediate effect. Besides the normal required documents, the individual/FWRA/employers should submit the medical clearance certificate of the foreigners obtained from the country of origin.This notification is referred to the approval of the night halt work permits only and for other categories and updates, MoICE will keep notifying in future.

Institute Certificate course in various Skills Development Program begins

A total of 30 youths are taking part in a three-month-long training in Wooden Furniture Design and Making, Plumbing and Mechanical fitter at Jigme Wangchuck Power Technology Institute, Sarpang which begins today. This Institute Certificate program is a part of the Skills Development Program (SDP) of the Ministry of Labour and Human Resources.

The training aims to enhance each participant’s skills and knowledge on designing and manufacturing of wooden furniture, provide plumbing and mechanical fitting services to create self-employment and fulfill domestic needs. The participants will also learn to maintain career professionalism and safety in various fields of their specialization. At the end of the training, the participants will also be provided with a Basic Entrepreneurship Course for two weeks.

The SDP is to mitigate and respond to the socio-economic impacts and challenges posed by the pandemic and to enhance the country’s economic resilience in the post-pandemic situation. It is also envisioned to benefit the job seekers, laid-off workers, overseas returnees, and those affected by the current pandemic. More than 108 skilling areas in nine priority sectors are identified for implementation under the SDP in various public institutes and training centres.
