This is to notify and inform the general public that the SHORT-TERM WORK PERMIT (E-Work Permit) is now being initiated by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Employment. The employers wishing to import foreign workers even for the duration less than 30 days should now compulsorily apply online through BLMIS with immediate effect. Besides the normal required documents, the individual/FWRA/employers should submit the medical clearance certificate of the foreigners obtained from the country of origin.This notification is referred to the approval of the night halt work permits only and for other categories and updates, MoICE will keep notifying in future.

Opening of Sowarigpa & Wellness Training

A 3-months training in sowarigpa & wellness began at Faculty of Traditional Medicine, Thimphu from today. The training is being conducted by FTM and funded by MoLHR. A total of 25 youths and overseas returnees are taking part in the training.

By the end of the 3 months course the students will be able to:

  • Describe the concepts and principles of Sowa Rigpa in General and know how Sowa Rigpa originated and History of Sowa Rigpa in detail;
  • Understand causes of disease through three Poisons and General Categories of Three Humors in depth and how diseases originated;
  •  Explain and discuss Anatomy as per Sowa Rigpa;
  • Discuss the importance of Diet and Behaviour as per Sowa Rigpa;
  • Can Explain and demonstrate Sorig Yoga and mindfulness both theoretically and Practically;
  • Can Explain and demonstrate Sorig Massage Both theoretically and Practically;
  •  Can Explain and Demonstrate Herbal Bath process and its benefits;
  • Identify Herbal plants and its usage practically and hands on training;
  • Can Explain and demonstrate First Aid;
  • Discuss the roles and responsibilities of the therapist and customer care;
  • Identify health issues related to poor hygiene and sanitation practices and discuss the importance of good personal hygiene;
  • Apply outstanding customer service techniques to generate return on business. 
  • Discuss and Explain Infection Control in General;  and 
  • Identify and explain the wheels of life in detail.

As per the Royal command, the SDP was initiated to mitigate the socio-economic impacts caused by the pandemic. The SPD program is also envisioned to benefit job seekers, laid-off workers, overseas returnees, and those affected by the current pandemic. More than 108 skilling areas in nine priority sectors are identified for implementation under the SDP in various public institutes and training centers.
