A 2-months training in Nature Guide and 1 month in Dairy Production began at Ugyen Wangchuck Institute for Conservation and Environment Research (UWICER), Bumthang from today. The training is being conducted by UWICER and Rural Development Training Centre, respectively, funded by MoLHR. A total of 48 youths, oversea returnees and laid-off employees (28 in Nature Guide, 20 in Dairy Production) are taking part in the training.
The training aims to impart and enhance the knowledge and skills on nature tour guiding and delivering nature tourism services to the people involved in tourism sector and youths including overseas returnees, job seekers, and laid-off employees across the country. The course in Dairy Production shall train youths, the competencies in the basic principles of milk and the practices required to make dairy products and their quality aspects of milk and milk products. The program also aims to create self-employment and to meet the domestic needs of the skilled work-force in the country.
As per the Royal command, the SDP was initiated to mitigate the socio-economic impacts caused by the pandemic. The SPD program is also envisioned to benefit job seekers, laid-off workers, overseas returnees, and those affected by the current pandemic. More than 108 skilling areas in nine priority sectors are identified for implementation under the SDP in various public institutes and training center
