This is to notify and inform the general public that the SHORT-TERM WORK PERMIT (E-Work Permit) is now being initiated by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Employment. The employers wishing to import foreign workers even for the duration less than 30 days should now compulsorily apply online through BLMIS with immediate effect. Besides the normal required documents, the individual/FWRA/employers should submit the medical clearance certificate of the foreigners obtained from the country of origin.This notification is referred to the approval of the night halt work permits only and for other categories and updates, MoICE will keep notifying in future.

Institute Certificate course in Mushroom Production

A total of 19 youths (13 female and 6 male) are taking part in a month-long Mushroom Production Training at Rural Development Training Centre (RDTC), Zhemgang. The course started on March 1, 2022. This Institute Certificate program is a part of the Skills Development Program (SDP) of the Ministry of Labour and Human Resources in collaboration with RDTC, Ministry of Agriculture and Forests.

The training aims to enhance each participant’s skills and knowledge to become competent in Mushroom Cultivation. The program also aims to create self-employment and to meet the domestic needs of the mushroom product.  The course shall cover planning of mushroom cultivation, construction of mushroom shed, cultivation of shiitake and oyster mushroom, use pest and disease control measures, spawn production, and post-harvest management.

The SDP is initiated as per the Royal Command to mitigate socio-economic impacts caused by the pandemic. It is envisioned to benefit job seekers, laid-off workers, overseas returnees, and those affected by the current pandemic. More than 108 skilling areas in nine priority sectors are identified for implementation under the SDP in various public institutes and training centres.
