A total of 15 youths are taking part in a four-month Choezey and Chadri item tailoring programme at College of Zorig Chusum, Trashiyangtse. The course started on 14 February 2022. This Institute Certificate program is a part of the Skills Development Program (SDP) of the Ministry of Labour and Human Resources.
The training aims to enhance each participant’s skills and knowledge on tailoring of traditional and cultural items to create self-employment and fulfill domestic needs.
The program will also significantly contribute to reviving, preserving and promoting the traditional artifacts associated with the religious institutions.
The SDP was initiated as per the Royal command to mitigate the socio-economic impacts caused by the pandemic by supporting the job seekers, laid-off workers, overseas returnees, and those affected by the pandemic. More than 108 skilling areas in nine priority sectors are identified for implementation under the SDP in various public institutes and training centres.
