In collaboration with the Wangdue Phodrang Dzongkhag, the Entrepreneurship Promotion Division (EDP) under the Department of Employment and Entrepreneurship, Ministry of Labour and Human Resources conducted the Basic Entrepreneurship Course (BEC) ) on New Business Creation (NBC) for unemployed youths from 4-25 January 2022 at Technical Training Institute, Samthang to build a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem in the country.
There were 21 participants, (9 male and 12 female) who were overseas returnees, unemployed, and laid off. The participants came up with 12 business ideas and they were made to write business plans, either individually or as a team. After vigorously training the participant on how to pursue entrepreneurship as a career choice they were assisted in writing a business plan. They pitched their idea to the panel of judges who selected the top four business ideas to provide a cash prize of Nu. 50,000 to start their business.
Due to the lockdown of Wangdue Phodrang Dzongkhag from 16 January 2022, the participants completed their financial projections, their business plan and write-up, business presentations and pitching through online sessions.
